"The End of Winter" is an ongoing series of still life drawings started in September 2022. This is a series of drawings made with Japanese sumi ink and charcoal on washi paper depicting some twenty bouquets of flowers bought for her mother in January and Februrary of 2022. Oftentimes in the urban domestic space, the only elements of nature present are already dead, preserved artificially, or a mere facsimile of the real natural object, an illusion. In the midst of the Muscovite winter, these flowers, cut and preserved after death, represented the blinding illusion of the possibility of spring, of the last suffocating breath of life.
